Did you ever feel like you’d have your life figured out by the time you were 21?Well,you’re no exception! I always had the thought that I had it all laid out in my head, except one never really knows what lies ahead of them.

Sometimes I wonder if my experiences are the usual 21 experience or might I have lived past my age, because could it get any worse? Not to say that I have not had my good share of life! The good times, the bad, it’s all part of the whole package.

The biggest lesson for me at 21 is learning that change is actually inevitable, and it’s never comfortable! Some things, some experiences, you have to accept and live with. Swallow the pill no matter how bitter it is. Fortunately, it only gets better. So go on sis! Let go of that which you think you can’t do without. It takes time, but you’ll thank yourself, eventually.

21 has also met me with the pressure of trying to figure out the future, my future. The responsibility of making huge decisions. Choices not only for myself but also considering everyone around me. Every aspect of that is challenging. The wrong decisions have come with consequences, some huge!! But getting through them has given me some amazing lessons.

Friends are a special part of our life. They are the ones who hold you down through both the good and the bad times. I have personally have a couple of friends that I know I can count on anytime. And others, well, most of them, I have had to drop. You can’t always share the same vision for life with everyone, and that’s okay. But that doesn’t mean you have to follow theirs. Choose you sometimes. Actually, most times. All the time!

Have you ever been soo stressed out, you don’t even want to talk to anyone, and you’re just minding your business then someone out of the blues insults you, or just says something rude to you?! The feeling! The indescribable anger! The holding back the tears! Point is, everyone is going through their own share of life, sometimes hiden under beautiful smiles, that you probably know nothing about. Be kind. Always. I have experienced how much the little things in life can mean a big deal to someone. Like a simple act of kindness. Making another person feel worthless isn’t even worth it! For what? Also do not judge people, there is more than meets the eye! The simple act can actually be a huge blessing to you❤️.

Lastly, there is power in positive thinking. This is huge but it comes last because it’s something I’m still working on myself. So far, so good. Yk life is a current, it won’t always go the way I want it to but I want to learn to be positive about it all.

So cheers to life! Cheers to being 21! And cheers to hoping for the best from life in the years to come!

Nothing in life is constant but change and dealing with change is central to one's growth. Heraclitus noted that “everything changes and nothing stands still.”
